Position: Physical Therapist

Department: Therapy

Reports to: Rehab Director, EDO

Summary

Evaluate patients, develop and implement physical therapy treatment programs in collaboration with physicians, administer various therapeutic treatments, and educate patients and caregivers to improve activities of daily living. Supervise and direct efforts of the Physical Therapy Assistant, if assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Qualification Requirements: Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution. Current state license/registration as a Physical Therapist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Establish, implement, and evaluate treatment plans and goals, revising as necessary based on patient progress.
  • Provide direct patient care ensuring the effectiveness of therapy programs.
  • Apply heat, light, water, electrical modalities, and other treatments as prescribed and competent.
  • Prioritize and plan treatments efficiently to meet patient needs.
  • Ensure compliance with professional ethics, patient rights, and legal standards.
  • Facilitate communication among healthcare providers involved in patient care.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences and maintain ongoing communication.
  • Adhere to ethical business practices, demonstrate integrity, and foster teamwork and diversity.
  • Maintain punctuality and proper attendance, and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and other professional development activities.
  • Use resources safely and cost-effectively, organize workload efficiently, and observe infection control standards.
  • Educate patients and families, perform in-services, and utilize correct coding practices.
  • Maintain patient loads within standards, follow productivity requirements, and support department goals.
  • Maintain respectful interactions, support teamwork, and respond promptly to management requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants, adhering to policies and legal requirements.

Physical Demands

Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, performing transfers, repositioning patients, and repetitive upper extremity movements. May encounter unsanitary conditions and high-crime areas.
