Job summary

Impact Healthcare LLC in Oakland, CA is seeking a Part Time Physical Therapist Assistant to provide PT services under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist, within the individualized plan of care.

The ideal candidate will have an accredited PTA program degree, CA licensure, CPR certification and be able to assist with therapeutic exercises, gait training and patient education. This position offers flexible hours at our Tri-Valley/Oakland area clinic.

Qualifications

• Must have an accredited PTA program (AS/ATS) approved by APTA.
• Current state licensure/certification as required by California law.
• CPR certification maintained.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct physical therapy per plan of care.
• Treat patients to relieve pain and restore function.
• Assist with therapeutic exercises, gait and transfers.
• Apply physical agents (heat, cold, ultrasound, etc.).
• Observe patient responses and report changes.
• Instruct on use of mobility aids.
• Maintain patient records and notes.
• Participate in Inservice Education Program.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The physical therapy assistant, contract or employed, provides physical therapy services under the

direction of the physical therapist and according to the individualized plan of care.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Provides direct physical therapy according to directions of a qualified physical therapist and in accordance with the plan of care and within the scope of the Physical Therapy Practice Act.
• 2. Treats patient to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance.
• 3. Directs and aids patients in active and passive therapeutic exercises, muscle reeducation, gait and functional training, transfer activities and prosthetic training.
• 4. Utilizes physical agents, including, but not be limited to heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound and massage.
• 5. Observes and reports to the physical therapist and the Organization personnel the patient’s reaction to treatment and any changes in patient’s condition.
• 6. Instructs patients in care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic or orthotic devices.
• 7. Maintains necessary records; clinical notes and conference notes, which will be incorporated into the patient’s clinical record in prescribed time frames.
• 8. Participates in interdisciplinary group and Organization Inservice Education Program.
• 9. Participates in the quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities.
• 10. Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• 1. Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program with either an Associate’s degree in science or applied science that is approved by American Physical Therapy Association, Inc. Meets personnel qualifications stated in §418.114(b)(8).
• 2. Current certification or license as required by state law.
• 3. Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
• 4. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order
