Job summary

Personal Touch Home Care is seeking a qualified Full-Time Physical Therapist Assistant for our Southside service area of Virginia Beach.

The PTA provides physical therapy services under the direction of the physical therapist and according to the physician's plan of care.

Qualifications

• Current certification or license as required by state law.
• Graduate of an accredited PTA program with an Associate's degree in science or applied science approved by APTA.
• Two years of PTA experience and a satisfactory proficiency exam, unless licensed in a state prior to 1978.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct physical therapy according to the physical therapist's direction and the physician's plan of care.
• Treats patient to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance.
• Directs and aids patients in active and passive therapeutic exercises and gait training.
• Utilizes physical agents (heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound, massage).
• Observes and reports patient responses to treatment and changes in condition.
• Instructs patients in care/use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic devices.
• Maintains clinical notes and records within prescribed time frames.
• Participates in team meetings and case conferences.

Education

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a qualified Full-Time Physical Therapist Assistant for our Southside service area of VIRGINIA BEACH.

The physical therapy assistant provides physical therapy services under the direction of the physical therapist and according to the physician's plan of care.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides direct physical therapy according to directions of physical therapist and in accordance with the physician's plan of care.
2. Treats patient to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance.
3. Directs and aids patients in active and passive therapeutic exercises, muscle reeducation, gait and functional training, transfer activities and prosthetic training.
4. Utilizes physical agents, including, but not limited to, heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound and massage.
5. Observes and reports patient's reaction to treatment and any changes in patient's condition to the physical therapist and/or the Clinical Director/Supervisor.
6. Instructs patients in care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes and prosthetic or orthotic devices.
7. Maintains necessary records; clinical notes and conference notes, which will be incorporated into the patient's clinical record in prescribed time frames.
8. Participates in Organization team member meetings and case conferences.

Qualifications:

• Current certification or license as required by state law.
• Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program with either an Associate's degree in science or applied science that is approved by American Physical Therapy Association, Inc.; or
• Has two (2) years of appropriate experience as a physical therapy assistant and has achieved a satisfactory grade on a proficiency examination conducted, approved or sponsored by the U.S. Public Health Service, except that these determinations of proficiency do not apply with respect to persons initially licensed by a State or seeking initial qualification as a physical therapy assistant after December 31, 1977.
