Job summary

VHS Rehabilitation is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to support licensed PTs in evaluating residents and delivering individualized therapy. The PTA will administer exercises, modalities, and manual techniques as directed, while documenting progress and communicating changes to the supervising PT.

The role requires a two-year PTA program, CPR certification, and a Virginia PTA license where required. Prior clinical experience is preferred, with a focus on compassionate care and team

Qualifications

• Graduate of a two-year PTA program approved by the APTA.
• Minimum of one year of PTA experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Must meet CMS Conditions of Participation for Home Health Agencies.
• Current PTA license in Virginia, if required by state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the licensed Physical Therapist in evaluating residents and implementing treatment plans.

• Monitor resident progress and report changes to the PT.
• Document treatments and progress per facility policy.

Guided by our core values ofPassion, Respect, and Excellence, the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide skilled therapy services that promote recovery and improve quality of life.

Responsibilities for Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA):

• Assist the licensed Physical Therapist in evaluating residents and implementing individualized treatment plans based on physician orders.

• Administer therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, massage, traction, and therapeutic modalities, including heat, cold, water, light, and electrical stimulation, as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.

• Monitor resident progress and communicate changes in strength, mobility, endurance, coordination, gait, activities of daily living, and equipment needs to the supervising Physical Therapist.

• Accurately document treatments, resident responses, and progress in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.

• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members to promote positive resident outcomes.

• Maintain professional competency by participating in continuing education, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

• Support a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment that promotes resident independence and well-being.

Qualifications for Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA):

• Graduate of a two-year Physical Therapist Assistant program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

• Minimum of one (1) year of clinical Physical Therapist Assistant experience preferred.

• Current CPR certification required.

• Must meet the qualifications for a Physical Therapist Assistant under the Federal Conditions of Participation for Home Health Agencies established by CMS.

• Current PTA license in the state of Virginia, if required by state regulations.

• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
