Job summary

Springtree Health & Rehabilitation Center in Roanoke, VA is seeking a qualified Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our care team. You will provide hands-on physical therapy under a licensed PT, implementing individualized plans to help residents regain independence and reduce pain.

Responsibilities include mobility training, gait and balance activities, use of assistive devices, documentation, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Active unencumbered licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in Virginia.
  • Associate degree from an accredited PTA program.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled physical therapy services to residents under the supervision and direction of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT).
  • Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising PT to help residents achieve their rehabilitation goals.
  • Administer therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, gait training, and other prescribed interventions to restore function and reduce pain.
  • Assist residents with mobility training, transfers, balance activities, and therapeutic modalities such as heat, cold, and electrical stimulation.
  • Train residents on the use of assistive devices, including walkers, canes, crutches, and wheelchairs, to promote safe mobility.
  • Explain procedures and treatments to gain residents’ cooperation and alleviate apprehension.
  • Monitor resident progress and communicate observations and treatment outcomes to the supervising PT.
  • Maintain residents’ medical records with thorough documentation of treatments provided, progress notes, and response to therapy.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care and successful achievement of rehabilitation goals.
  • Educate residents and their families on home exercise programs, safety precautions, and strategies to maintain progress after discharge.
  • Observe emotional stability of residents, express interest in their progress, and prepare them for continuing care after discharge.
  • Perform other duties as required to provide exceptional care to each resident.
