Job summary

Cedarbrook Health & Rehab in Fort Myers, FL is seeking a compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our skilled nursing facility team. You will support rehabilitation efforts, assist with mobility and therapeutic exercises, and work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Current PTA certification or license in Florida.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with elderly residents.
  • Ability to work with Physical Therapists, nursing staff and care teams.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality patient care under supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Assist residents with mobility training, gait training, transfers and strengthening exercises.
  • Implement individualized therapy treatment plans according to resident needs.
  • Monitor resident progress and document outcomes accurately and timely.
  • Provide education and support to residents and families regarding therapeutic activities and home exercise programs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean therapy environment and ensure equipment is used properly.
  • Collaborate with nursing and therapy teams to support overall care plans.
  • Encourage resident participation and promote independence in daily activities.

In a skilled nursing facility (SNF) setting, PTAs play a vital role in supporting residents through their rehabilitation journeys. You’ll be a guiding hand, a trusted support, and an essential part of our caregiving community. From assisting with therapeutic exercises to promoting mobility and independence, your daily work will have a lasting and meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality patient care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist

  • Assist residents with mobility training, gait training, transfers, and strengthening exercises

  • Implement individualized therapy treatment plans according to resident needs

  • Encourage resident participation and promote independence in daily functional activities

Qualifications for a Skilled Nursing Facility
  • Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program

  • Current PTA certification or license in the state of Florida

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with elderly or rehabilitating residents

  • Ability to work collaboratively with Physical Therapists, nursing staff, and other care team members

  • Compassionate, patient‑centered approach to care

  • Basic understanding of rehabilitation principles and SNF regulatory guidelines (preferred)

  • Ability to lift, support, and assist residents safely during mobility and therapeutic activities
