Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) performs patient-related activities under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. Services may include but are not limited to purposeful activities or interventions to maximize independence and maintain health for individuals limited by physical injury or illness, cognitive impairment, psychosocial dysfunction, mental illness, developmental or learning disabilities, or adverse environmental conditions.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the physical therapist with tests, evaluations, and complex treatment procedures.
• Observe, record, and report to the therapist the condition, reactions, and responses related to assigned duties.
• Assist the therapist in consulting with patients, family members, and other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
• Assist with the care of the physical therapy department and equipment.
• Assist the physical therapist with in-service programs and meetings as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

• Must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in the appropriate state.
• Prior experience in Physical Therapy preferred.
• Prior experience in Skilled Nursing preferred.
