Responsibilities

• Assist the physical therapist in implementing treatment interventions
• Administer therapeutic exercises and activities to improve patients' strength, mobility, and function
• Provide training to individuals and others involved in their rehabilitation, and document results of the training
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
• Support individuals' treatment plans by documenting and reporting status changes to the multidisciplinary team as appropriate
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited physical therapy assistant training program
• Current Physical Therapist Assistant certification in the state of practice
• Current CPR certification in accordance with state regulations
• Knowledge of evidence-based therapy interventions
• Familiarity with assisted living, independent living, geriatrics, and/or home health
• One year experience preferred
• New grads encouraged to apply
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Moving, lifting, or transferring patients, which may involve lifting up to 100 pounds following safety procedures
• Duties require fine motor skills, visual acuity, and walking/standing for extended periods
• Additional physical requirements include pushing/pulling, bending/stooping, reaching, kneeling, and frequent repositioning
• A health screen or examination may be required prior to assignment and periodically thereafter, depending on location policy and regulations, to verify physical capability with or without reasonable accommodations
