Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Full Time, Part Time, Per Diem

Blue Palms Health & Rehabilitation Centeris seeking a skilled and compassionatePhysical Therapist Assistant (PTA)to join our dedicated team. This role is focused on providing in-house subacute rehabilitation to patients recovering from surgery, illness, or injury. The PTA will work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to implement individualized treatment plans, helping patients regain their independence and improve mobility in a supportive, rehabilitative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in Patient Care:Work closely with Physical Therapists to provide therapeutic interventions, such as exercises, mobility training, functional activities, and modalities, in line with the patient’s rehabilitation plan.
- Subacute Rehabilitation Focus:Deliver physical therapy treatments to patients who require post-acute care, including those recovering from surgeries (e.g., joint replacement, spinal surgery) or medical conditions (e.g., stroke, neurological disorders).
- Monitor Progress:Observe patients' responses to treatment, and report any changes, challenges, or improvements to the supervising Physical Therapist for adjustment of treatment plans.
- Patient Education:Educate patients and their families about exercises, posture, mobility techniques, equipment usage, and safety measures to support continued recovery at home or in a lower level of care.
- Documentation:Accurately document all patient treatments, progress notes, and any observations in compliance with facility protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Team Collaboration:Work alongside an interdisciplinary team, including nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to coordinate care and ensure patients receive comprehensive support.
- Patient Safety:Ensure that all rehabilitation interventions are carried out in a safe manner, adjusting activities as necessary based on patient condition, comfort, and safety.
- Therapeutic Environment:Maintain a clean, organized, and safe rehabilitation environment, ensuring equipment and supplies are properly used, cleaned, and maintained.
- Discharge Planning Support:Assist with discharge planning by educating patients on home exercise programs and providing recommendations for long-term rehabilitation needs.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current, valid state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant in Florida.
- Prior experience in subacute rehabilitation or a skilled nursing facility is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
- Basic computer skills for documenting patient care and communicating with the team.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to assist patients with physical activities, including standing, walking, lifting, and transferring patients.
- Frequent bending, lifting, and carrying therapy equipment.
- Ability to perform physical tasks related to patient mobility and rehabilitation as necessary.
