Physical Therapist Assistant ~ PTA

La Villa Grande Care Center ~ Grand Junction, CO

Pay Rate - $25/hr - $35/hr DOE

FUNCTION: The Physical Therapist Assistant will carry out an individualized program of physical therapy including assessment, treatment, planning, implementation, education, and communication to maximize a patient's progress toward achieving functional goals. The Physical Therapist Assistant will also maintain a positive working relationship with other health professionals and ancillary staff.

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and skills to care for the physical and developmental needs of the population age groups that will be receiving services.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency or crisis situations.
  • Graduate of an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) approved physical therapy program.
  • At least one year of experience as a physical therapy aide.
  • Current license from the state Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OTR), the Physical Therapist Assistant will:

  • Provide direct patient care, evaluate functional needs and outcomes, and consult with other specialists. Review patients’ functional needs and adjust care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Design and implement a plan of care for patients based on a thorough assessment of potential development and incorporate participation by significant others whenever appropriate.
  • Conduct therapy practice within defined standards of care.
  • Direct the assistance of support staff to achieve patients’ functional goals.
  • Communicate effectively with other professional and support staff to achieve positive patient outcomes.
  • Practice hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Document evaluations, treatment goals, and plans. Regularly update documentation and maintain prescriptions and signatures.
  • Enhance professional growth and development of self and others through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops. Keep up to date on professional literature.
  • Provide direction and leadership to staff and act as a resource to promote physical therapy in the community.
  • Demonstrate ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to fulfill job requirements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make independent decisions and solve practical problems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to listen actively and evaluate social situations in an objective, consistent, and fair manner.
  • Comply with community policies and procedures for workplace safety including infection control procedures, emergency response, and safety protocol.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures related to resident rights; abuse prevention and reporting; and resident confidentiality (HIPAA).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Employee Handbook and comply with the policies in the Handbook.
  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned.
