Job summary

Salt Lake Community College (UT) seeks an adjunct instructor to teach introductory Physical Therapist Assistant courses. Courses may be in person, online, or via Concurrent Enrollment off-site at partnering high schools. The position is pooled and reviewed as openings arise.

Adjunct faculty are hired semester-by-semester with no guaranteed long-term employment. Transcripts must be provided within 30 days if offered. Strong classroom management and communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree required.
  • Utah PTA/PT license active.
  • National PTA/PT certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
  • Teaching experience in a school setting.
  • Experience teaching Physical Therapist Assistant content.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively prepare and teach Physical Therapist Assistant introductory classes as stipulated in the course syllabi.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and classroom documentation in the LMS.
  • Demonstrate depth of knowledge in physical therapy.
  • Participate in trainings and other assigned responsibilities.
  • Respond to department and college communications within two business days.
  • Accept other duties as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse groups to maintain good working relationships.
  • Work with diverse communities including students, faculty, and staff with varying abilities.

Education

Associates degree
Bachelor’s degree or higher
Utah PTA license
National PTA/PT certification

Job description

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program at SLCC offers introductory courses into the fields of Physical therapy. We are looking for a faculty to teach these intro courses. Classes may be taught in person, online, or through Concurrent Enrollment off site at partnering High Schools.

This is a pooled position. The department reviews applications as positions become available.

1) In accordance with SLCC policy, adjunct positions are offered on a semester-by-semester basis with no guarantee of continued employment. 2) Official transcripts are required for those who are offered employment within in 30 days of hire.

  • Effectively prepare and teach Physical Therapist Assistant introductory classes as stipulated in the course syllabi.
  • Maintains accurate and complete student attendance records, grades, and other classroom documentation as applicable. Grades must be maintained on the College’s learning management system.
  • Demonstrate a depth of knowledge and understanding in the field of physical therapy.
  • Participates in trainings and other responsibilities as assigned and approved.
  • Responds to department and college communication within two business days.
  • Accept other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, culture, ethnic background, and abilities, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.

All Faculty will maintain an on-site campus presence to encourage in-person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences unless approved for on-line only courses. You are employed as an Adjunct Faculty member/ Instructor on a contract-to-contract basis, with no future expectation or obligation for employment. Your employment may be terminated At Will at any time. You are required to maintain professional boundaries with all SLCC students.

  1. Associates degree,
  2. Currently licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant or Physical Therapist in the state of Utah.
  3. Nationally certified as a Physical Therapist Assistant or Physical Therapist.
  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  2. Evidence of formal teaching experience.
  3. Evidence of teaching in a High School setting.
  4. Evidence of a variety of clinical experiences.
