Job summary

Rehab Associates of Central Virginia Inc. seeks a Physical Therapy Assistant (Floater) to deliver outpatient rehabilitation across multiple clinics in Central Virginia. You will implement PT programs, monitor patient progress, and contribute to a collaborative care team under supervision of PTs and Clinical Directors.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
• Current licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant or ability to obtain it in Virginia.
• Previous outpatient setting experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• Exercise, sports rehab, and manual-based skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care by established protocols and guidelines.
• Ensure timely documentation (daily notes, progress reports, incident reports).
• Administer active and passive manual therapies and modalities (massage, heat, ultrasound, etc.).
• Administer traction to relieve neck and back pain.
• Instruct and assist patients in functional activities (ambulation, transfers, daily living).
• Monitor patient responses and report progress to PT and Clinical Director.
• Fit and train patients on braces, prostheses, and assistive devices.
• Collaborate with PT staff to plan and coordinate treatment programs.
• Measure range of motion and vital signs to evaluate treatment effects.

Job Description

You will implement physical therapy programs and activities, follow developed recovery plans, and deliver therapy treatments. You are equally adept at addressing the whole patient and seeing them as individuals. You know your goal is to execute a program to restore, reinforce, and enhance their physical abilities.

• Provides patient care by established protocols and patient care guidelines.
• Responsible for timely documentation, including daily notes, weekly workers' compensation reports, progress reports, and incident reports.
• Provide comprehensive patient care, administer active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, heat, light, sound, water, and electrical modality treatment such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ultraviolet, infrared, and hot and cold packs.
• Administers traction to relieve neck and back pain.
• Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in learning and improving functional activities such as perambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily living activities.
• Observes patients during treatments, compiles data on patients’ responses to treatments and progress, and reports orally or in writing to the Physical Therapist and Clinical Director.
• Fits patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.
• Confers with members of physical therapy staff and other health team members, individually and in conference, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs.
• Measures the patient’s range of joint motion, length and girth of body parts, and vital signs to determine the effects of specific treatments or to assist the Physical Therapist in compiling data for patient evaluations.

Qualifications
