Job summary

Goodwin Living Career Center is seeking a PRN Physical Therapy Assistant to provide treatments in residents’ homes and retirement communities across Northern Virginia, under a Physical Therapist’s Plan of Care.

We value compassion, empathy, and clear communication as essential qualities for coordinating with a multidisciplinary team and maintaining high-quality patient care in a home-health setting.

Qualifications

• Virginia PTA license is required.
• CPR certification (adult) is required.
• Compassion and empathy are essential; must interact with residents, families, and caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Provide Physical Therapy treatments under a PT Plan of Care.
• Communicate progress and any adverse effects with the PT.
• Document treatments according to rehab protocols and Medicare guidelines.
• Coordinate resident’s treatment with nursing and other therapists.

We're looking for an experiencedPRN PTAto work for our patients in the comfort of their own homes or retirement communities throughout the Northern Virginia cities and counties of Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William. Under the Plan of Care established by the evaluating Physical Therapist, renders Physical Therapy treatments to improve resident’s functional abilities, safety level, reduce pain, and improve quality of life.

Job Duties:

• Provides Physical Therapy treatments to overcome specific losses of function due to disease and injury, under a Physical Therapist’s Plan of Care, and as dictated by the Commonwealth of Virginia Physical Therapy Practice Act.
• Effectively communicates with the Physical Therapist to clarify the Plan of Care, relay resident’s progress with treatment, report any adverse effects of treatment, report medical decline or inability to follow through with recommended treatments, and offers suggestions to alter and progress the Plan of Care based on knowledge and experience with that particular resident.
• Documents treatments/services according to the Rehab Department’s protocols and Medicare guidelines.
• Coordinates resident’s treatment with nursing staff, occupational and speech therapists.

Qualifications:

• Current Virginia Physical Therapy Assistant license
• CPR certified (adult only)
• Possess the qualities of compassion and empathy and also comfort with at risk or low income constituents.
• Possess the ability to deal tactfully and compassionately with clients, family members, and caregivers
