Job summary

Lafayette Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to provide clinical services under physician orders and to support the intervention plan designed by the Physical Therapist.

The role requires an Associate's degree in Physical Therapy, active state licensure, and strong communication skills. You will assist with procedures, document patient progress, and participate in ongoing professional development within a collaborative rehab team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical services to appropriate residents under physician's orders.
• Reports patient progress and response to treatment to the Physical Therapist.
• Assists Physical Therapist in procedures, tests and treatments to ensure safe, effective care.
• Participates in continuing education for professional growth.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient, facility, and physician information.
• Maintains accurate billing information daily.
• Attends interdisciplinary meetings to relay findings to rehab team.
• Attends family meetings as appropriate.
• Adheres to Rehabilitation department documentation requirements.
• Conducts staff training and in-services.
• Follows facility policies and Rehab Policy and Procedure Manual.
• Supervises non-professional staff as appropriate.

Education

Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy

Current state license

Job description

The Physical Therapist Assistant must have: Associates Degree in Physical Therapy, current license in the state, excellent oral and written communication skills, and knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance within state and federal regulations related to the environment of treatment.

The Physical Therapy Assistant:

• Provides clinical services to appropriate residents under physician's orders
• Reports information relating to the patient's progress, complications, and/or response to treatment to the Physical Therapist
• Assists Physical Therapist in performing procedures, test and complex treatments to ensure the safe, effective evaluation and treatment of patients
• Assumes responsibility for continued professional growth and development by participating in continuing education programs and other appropriate learning experiences
• Maintains confidentiality of all patient, facility, and physician-related information
• Maintains accurate billing information, in accordance with procedures, on a daily basis
• Attends and participates in interdisciplinary meetings, as appropriate, to relay clinical findings and recommendations to other members of the rehab team
• Attends and participates in family meetings, as appropriate
• Adheres to documentation requirements of the Rehabilitation department and the facility
• Conducts staff training/education, as appropriate, via formal and informal in-services and consultations
• Reviews and follows the policies and procedures outlined by the facility and Rehab Policy and Procedure Manual
• Supervises non-professional staff, as appropriate
