Job summary

Huntsville Memorial Hospital is seeking a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to perform treatments and provide exercise instruction for inpatients and outpatients. Education: Graduate of a Physical Therapy Assistant program; Licensure: current LPTA license; BLS within 30 days; Experience: none required, but therapy experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Physical Therapy Assistant program required.
• Current license to practice as a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment, before patient care is provided independently.
• Experience: None required, prior therapy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carries out a program of corrective exercises and treatments for assigned patients, as determined by evaluation performed by Physical Therapist.
• Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the department and regulatory bodies.
• Maintains department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance, safety, infection control.
• Supervises students as assigned.
• Assists in requisition, care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
• Enhances professional development through participation in educational programs and in-service meetings.
• Abides by the HMH Legal Compliance Code of Conduct.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and appropriate handling of PHI.
• Maintains a safe work environment and reports safety concerns appropriately.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.

LATITUDE, CONTACTS/INTERACTIONS

All positions of Huntsville Memorial Hospital are part of an interdisciplinary team, and as such, participate in the care and service delivery process through effective interaction with other team members. Primarily interacts with hospital staff, medical staff, patients, and visitors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Frequent: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing & walking.

Occasional: reaching, bending, squatting, climbing kneeling, twisting.

Visual and hearing acuity required. Work is inside, with good ventilation and comfortable temperature.

Possible exposure to: toxic/caustic chemicals or detergents, moving mechanical parts, potential electric shock, radiant energy, communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens.
