Job summary

Sunrise Community, Inc. seeks a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant to support our mission of delivering high-quality therapeutic services to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

You will implement treatment plans, train staff, and document progress under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The role emphasizes hands-on care, collaboration with care teams, regulatory compliance, and ongoing quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Driver's License with endorsements and have at least 3 years of driving experience.
• Active state Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) License.
• Associates of Science (A.S.) degree in Physical Therapist Assistant required.

Responsibilities

• Implement physical therapy treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
• Train Direct Support Professionals on proper transfer techniques, equipment uses and positioning needs.
• Complete therapeutic exercises and activities according to the plan of the Physical Therapist.
• Complete gait, balance, transfer, and mobility interventions.
• Implement stretching, strengthening, endurance, and range-of-motion programs.
• Monitor patient response to treatment and report findings to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Promote functional independence in mobility and daily activities.
• Assist with positioning and postural management programs.
• Support wheelchair mobility and seating recommendations.
• Reinforce adaptive equipment training.
• Assist in fall prevention and injury prevention strategies.
• Document treatment sessions per Sunrise Community Inc. policies and procedures.
