Responsibilities

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA) performs treatments, provides exercise instruction, and educates patients to improve their well-being, following the plan of care established by the supervising Physical Therapist.

• Adhere to all state-specific laws governing physical therapy in home care, perform only procedures you are qualified for, and recommend changes to the plan of care to the supervising PT.
• Instruct and assist patients with active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait training, functional activities, ADLs, transfers, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observe, document, and report patient responses and condition changes to the supervising PT, nurse, or physician. Collaborate with the healthcare team as appropriate.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, and team members within the scope of practice for a PTA.

Qualifications

License Requirements

• Current licensure, registration, or certification to practice physical therapy in the respective state.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle or public transportation.
