Responsibilities

As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), you play a vital role in the rehabilitation team, working under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to help patients regain movement, reduce pain, and restore function after injury, illness, or surgery. Your primary responsibilities include:

  1. Patient Care Implementation: Assist in executing treatment plans developed by the physical therapist to meet patients' rehabilitation goals and needs.
  2. Therapeutic Exercises and Activities: Lead patients through prescribed exercises and activities to improve physical function and support recovery. Instruct patients on proper techniques, monitor progress, and provide feedback for safe and effective participation.
  3. Modalities and Physical Agents: Ensure correct application of treatment modalities, monitor patient responses, and adjust treatments as necessary for optimal results.
  4. Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and families on injury prevention, proper body mechanics, and pain management techniques.
  5. Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Track patient responses to treatments, document progress, and communicate updates to the supervising physical therapist, collaborating on treatment adjustments as needed.
Qualifications
  • Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
  • Current license/certification in the state of practice
