Responsibilities

The Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA) performs treatments, provides exercise instruction, and educates patients to improve or enhance their well-being, following the established plan of care.

• Follow all state-specific laws governing physical therapy in home care, adhere to treatment plans set by the supervising PT, perform only procedures you are qualified for, and recommend changes to the plan of care as needed.
• Instruct and assist patients with active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, functional activities, activities of daily living (ADL), transfers, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observe, record, and report patient responses to treatment and any changes in condition to the supervising PT, nurse, or physician. Coordinate care with other healthcare team members as appropriate.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members within the scope of practice for a PTA.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Current license, registration, or certification to practice physical therapy in the state of practice.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
