Physical Therapist Assistant, Home Health

Position Overview

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) is a State-approved healthcare professional who provides specialized tasks within the established plan of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT). The PTA performs measurement procedures, implements treatment programs for home health and hospice patients evaluated by a PT, and documents patient care activities. The PTA also performs special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed PT.
• Perform measurement procedures and document patient care activities accurately.
• Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school for Physical Therapy Assistants, with documentation of approval to practice as a PTA by the Physical Therapy Board of California, or equivalent experience.
• Current PTA registration and valid BLS certification.
• Current PPD and valid Driver's License (Class C).

Preferred Experience

• At least one year of experience in acute care, home health, or community health settings.
• Experience in a home health setting preferred.

Skills and Knowledge

• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Understanding of home care services, clinical standards, Medicare and Medicaid regulations, and infection control.
• Ability to handle sensitive issues, prioritize work, and work in challenging environments.
• Reliable transportation and flexibility with schedule, including participation in on-call rotations.

Work Schedule

Days, full-time (8 hours, Monday to Friday), with no weekend requirements. Weekly hours: 40.

Benefits and Compensation
