Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant to evaluate patients, follow treatment plans, and use exercises, hands-on techniques, and other therapies to improve movement and recovery.

This 40-hour per week, day-shift role requires graduation from an accredited PTA program, licensure in WI or IL (or both), and CPR/BLS within 90 days of hire; you will document services and collaborate with the care team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PTA program.
• Licensed as a physical therapy assistant in WI or IL (or both).
• CPR/BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Integrates subjective and objective data to follow a treatment plan.
• Utilizes exercises, physical agents, and manual techniques.
• Maintains thorough documentation with proper coding and billing.
• Communicates with other disciplines and referring providers.
• Provides timely electronic documentation.
• Demonstrates advanced evaluation and treatment techniques.
• Participates in PI and CQI processes.
• Assists in orientation and mentoring of new partners.
• Contributes to cost-saving initiatives within the department.
• Participates in performance improvement.
• Maintains high standard of patient care and effective communication among staff.
• Plans and conducts lectures/trainings for medical staff, students, and community groups.

OVERVIEW

This role provides physical therapy by evaluating patients, following treatment plans, and using exercises, hands-on techniques, and other therapies to improve movement and recovery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Integrates subjective and objective data to follow an established treatment plan.

• Utilizes exercise, physical agents, and manual techniques to address deficits.

• Maintains a thorough record of services provided with appropriate coding and billing.

• Communicates with other disciplines and referring providers to enhance outcomes.

• Performs thorough and timely electronic documentation

• Strengths in care delivery as evidenced by peer review feedback; consistently demonstrates advanced evaluation and treatment techniques

• Participates actively in the PI and CQI process

• Assists in the orientation, training and mentoring of new partners

• Participates in cost saving initiatives within the department

• Takes an active role in the performance improvement process

• Maintain a high standard of patient care and provide effective communication between physical therapists, assistants and the physician group

• Plans and conducts lectures and training programs on physical therapy and related topics for medical staff, students and community groups.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited program for Physical Therapy Assistants

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Licensed as a physical therapist assistant in WI, IL or both if required

CPR/BLS required within 90 days of hire

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION

Some independent judgement is required, based upon scope of practice and within professional standards.

PAY RANGE

$27.17 - $40.75
