The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) implements therapeutic programs under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, including therapeutic exercises, gait training, and other physical therapy activities.
JOB DUTIES / KNOWLEDGE :
- Coordinates and collaborates with the Physical Therapist and Rehab Director to integrate the therapeutic program into the plan of care.
- Guides and teaches patients techniques, exercises, or precautions to improve range of motion, strength, balance, coordination, endurance, or functional ability, following instructions from the supervising Physical Therapist as approved by the physician.
- Observes, records, and reports patients' reactions to treatment and any changes in their condition or care. Documents their involvement in decision-making regarding their care.
- Participates in patient case conferences to coordinate care plans and promote positive therapeutic outcomes.
- Reports patient complaints of pain, sickness, or unusual reactions to treatment to the Physical Therapist and Coordinator.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sufficient sight and hearing to understand written and verbal communication. Ability to work at least eight (8) hours daily while driving, standing, sitting, assisting with patient movement, writing, and speaking.

QUALIFICATIONS :
- Graduate of a two-year accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
- Licensed by the Texas state licensing board.
- Preferred: two years of home health experience.

Must have a vehicle with current insurance and a valid driver’s license.
DEGREE OF DISRUPTION TO ROUTINE, OVERTIME :
Must adapt to changing client needs and schedules.
