Job summary

Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange, NJ, is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) for a full-time position. Schedule: Mon–Fri 8:00am–4:30pm with alternating weekends and some holidays; compensation: $33.00–$43.53 per hour.

The role supports inpatient rehab patients with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and more. Under licensed PT supervision, you will implement therapy plans, supervise support staff, and contribute to education for patients and families.

Qualifications

• Current PTA licensure or eligibility required.
• BLS certification or completion within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the implementation of the therapy plan under supervision.
• Delegate and direct supportive personnel to enhance patient care.
• Communicate with supervising PT to adjust treatment plans and reassess as needed.
• Educate patients, families, students, coworkers and self.
• Perform other professional duties within the scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Under the direct supervision of a licensed PT, assists with the implementation of the therapy plan of care.
• Responsible for delegation and direction of supportive personnel for those assigned patients, in order to enhance patient care services.
• Consistently communicates with supervising PT in regard to scheduled patients to ensure identification of need for assessment and reassessment of patients, modification of treatment plans and other interventions requiring therapist direction.
• Participates in education of patients, families, students, coworkers and self.
• Performs other professional duties associated with the care of the patient, within the scope of practice.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant required.
• Certified BLS or completion in first 90 days of employment required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred candidate has one or more years of experience.
