Position: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Role Summary: The PTA assists a supervising physical therapist with patient care activities, employing clinical problem‑solving skills to ensure safety, comfort, and the achievement of therapeutic goals.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the APTA code of ethics.
• Carry out treatment as directed by the supervising PT.
• Apply a variety of manual techniques, equipment, and modalities as appropriate.
• Modify treatment plans in response to patient progress and inform the PT of status changes.
• Assist facility staff to maintain a clean, orderly, and effective rehabilitation environment.
• Document patient progress using approved medical and facility documentation procedures.
• Function independently within the scope of the PTA Practice Act.
• Pass the PTA exam if the license is pending after the third attempt.
• Maintain patient records and ensure certifications and authorizations comply with third‑party payer requirements.
• Demonstrate competency in all areas of client care and pursue additional education to remain current.
• Provide individualized patient and caregiver education.
