The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) implements therapeutic programs under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, including therapeutic exercise, gait training, and other physical therapy activities.
JOB DUTIES/KNOWLEDGE:
- Coordinates and collaborates with the Physical Therapist and the Rehab Director to ensure integration of the therapeutic program into the plan of care.
- Guides and teaches patients techniques, exercises, or precautions to improve range of motion, strength, balance, coordination, endurance, or functional ability, following instructions from the supervising Physical Therapist and physician approval.
- Observes, records, and reports patient reactions to treatment and any changes in their condition or treatment. Documents the patient's involvement in care decisions.
- Participates in patient case conferences to coordinate the plan of care and promote positive therapeutic outcomes.
- Reports patient complaints of pain, sickness, or unusual reactions to treatment to the Physical Therapist and Coordinator.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sufficient sight and hearing to comprehend written and verbal communication; ability to work at least eight (8) hours daily while driving, standing, sitting, assisting patient movement, writing, and speaking.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited two-year Physical Therapy Assistant program.
- Current Texas license to practice as a PTA.
- Preferred: Two years' experience in home health.

- Owns a vehicle with current insurance and a valid driver’s license.
- Adapts to schedule changes based on client needs.
- Awareness of safety hazards such as infections, auto accidents, and neighborhood safety.
