Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) – Hospital-Based Inpatient & Outpatient

Position Type: Full-Time
Setting: Hospital-Based (Inpatient & Outpatient Rehabilitation)
Compensation: $50,000–$85,000 annually (DOE)

We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join a hospital-based rehabilitation team. This role includes both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, working under the supervision of licensed Physical Therapists to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out physical therapy treatment plans as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Provide care in both inpatient settings (including post-surgical, medical-surgical, and step-down units) and outpatient rehabilitation clinics.
• Assist patients with therapeutic exercise programs, gait training, mobility activities, transfer training, and use of assistive devices.
• Observe, document, and report patient responses, progress, and tolerance to treatments.
• Communicate any changes in patient condition or concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, Medicare).
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support coordinated patient care.
• Ensure safe and effective treatment environments for all patients.

Qualifications

Required

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Current state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow clinical direction and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred

• Experience in inpatient and/or outpatient rehabilitation settings.
• Familiarity with hospital-based documentation systems and EMR platforms.
