Summary

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides comprehensive skilled services under the direction of a Physical Therapist. The PTA educates patients and their families and ensures patient safety. They are responsible for accurate documentation and remain compliant with all legal rules and regulations. The company adopts the physical therapy scope of practice as outlined by the state for licensed PTA personnel.

Qualifications & Attributes
  • Current license as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of employment.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as an PTA in an acute setting.
  • Home care experience is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Knowledge of therapy best practices.
  • Ability to make appropriate physical therapy judgments.
  • Problem-solving skills to handle situations effectively.
  • Detail-oriented and observant.
  • Disciplined work ethic with good time management.
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance with your name as a listed driver.
Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Provide skilled services in a patient’s home as per the Physical Therapist's plan of care.
  • Observe, record, and report patient reactions, changes, and progress.
  • Perform prescribed physical therapy procedures and diagnostic tests.
  • Treat patients to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain performance using various physical means.
  • Assess functional problems and work toward goals to improve patient function.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members.
  • Participate in case conferencing and care coordination.
  • Recommend or evaluate prosthetic/orthotic devices and make minor adjustments or modifications.
  • Educate staff, patients, and families on therapy techniques and safety measures.
  • Instruct on the proper use of medical equipment.
  • Listen to patient and family concerns.
  • Promote patient independence.
  • Complete all documentation accurately and timely.
  • Participate in audits, scheduling, on-call duties, and team meetings.
Essential Functions
  • Travel to patient locations as scheduled.
  • Attend all assigned visits and document accordingly within specified timeframes.
  • Follow the plan of care within the scope of practice.
Note: Compensation per visit includes all related activities such as preparation, travel, supplies, charting, and communication.
Health Qualifications

Must meet physical requirements, provide proof of current TB testing, and be free of conditions limiting performance. May be at risk for exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

Physical Demands

Requires frequent reading, speaking, writing, communication skills, dexterity, hearing, vision, walking, sitting, bending, and standing. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs., reaching, climbing, and stooping. Travel is required.
