Job summary

TalentBurst is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) for an onsite contract in Lanham, MD. The assignment runs 13 weeks with a 40-hour work week, typically 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, delivering outpatient rehabilitation services in home or facility settings.

The PTA will support a licensed PT, provide therapeutic exercise, functional training, manual therapy, and patient education, while documenting care and coordinating with the rehabilitation team to ensure high-quality, compassionate service.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid PTA license in the state of practice or proof of license eligibility.
  • Must have a valid driver's license or reliable transportation to patient homes.

Responsibilities

  • Attends and contributes to patient care and team meetings as needed.
  • Verifies adherence to treatment schedule and completes timely documentation.
  • Works with the rehabilitation team to implement patient-specific programs.
  • Assists the Physical Therapist during tests, evaluations and complex procedures.
  • Instructs patients and families in treatment techniques under supervision.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation for all patients treated.
  • Maintains and reports the need for equipment repair as necessary.
  • Puts patient service first, delivering high-quality care with compassion.
  • Implements individualized treatment plans established by the Physical Therapist.
  • Provides therapeutic exercise, functional training, manual therapy and related modalities.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Physical Therapist Assistant will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. The in-home setting could be a patient's private residence or in a patient's room in an independent living facility. Rehabilitation To You allows the Physical Therapy Assistant to evaluate and treat in the most functional environment which is the patient's home. The Physical Therapist Assistant provides physical therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist. This position provides a flexible schedule and work environment in various settings.

RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES

Attends and contributes to patient care, staffing conferences and other required meetings as a representative of physical therapy, under the direction of the physical therapist.

Responsible for adherence to department and patient treatment schedule, timely clinical and billing documentation requirements as well as work related meetings.

Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient.

Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing tests, evaluations, and complex procedures.

Instructs patients, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.

Maintains appropriate and timely documentation for all patients treated.

Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary.

Puts Patient Service First: Ensures that patients and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights.

Implements patient's individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Physical Therapist.

Provides individualized physical therapy treatments including but not limited to:

  • Therapeutic exercise including aerobic capacity conditioning, balance coordination, agility training, body mechanics and postural stabilization, flexibility exercises, gait and locomotion training, neuromotor development training, relaxation, strength, power, and endurance training
  • Functional training
  • Manual therapy
  • Integumentary repair and protection
  • Use of electrotherapeutic, physical agent and mechanical modalities
  • Health and Wellness
  • Chronic Disease Management Education
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have a valid license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license eligibility.

Must have a valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from the patients' residence.

Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies and procedures including but not limited to those within the Compliance and Ethics Program, Standard/Code of Conduct, Federal False Claims Act and HIPAA.

Promptly reports concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance to supervisor, Compliance Liaison or to the Compliance Officer via the Integrity Hotline.

Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations.

Participates , as requested, in quality assurance and process improvement activities.
