Job summary

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) position in Bel Air, MD, is a 13-week, onsite contract supporting outpatient rehabilitation in home settings for older adults. The role partnerships with a Licensed Physical Therapist to deliver treatments and help patients achieve greater independence.

Typical shifts 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, 40 hours per week with a pay rate of $43 per hour, including base weekly pay of $1,720.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid license in the state(s) of practice or proof of license eligibility.
  • Must have a valid driver's license or reliable transportation to patient residences.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Attends and contributes to patient care and meetings as a representative of physical therapy.
  • Adheres to treatment schedules and completes timely documentation.
  • Collaborates with rehabilitation team to implement patient programs.
  • Assists Physical Therapist during tests, evaluations, and procedures.
  • Instructs patients and caregivers in treatment techniques under supervision.
  • Maintains documentation for all patients treated.
  • Maintains and reports equipment needs and repairs.
  • Delivers patient-centered care with a compassionate approach.
  • Implements individualized treatment plans and performs therapies listed.

Title: Physical Therapist Assistant

Length of assignment: 13 Weeks

Shift: 08:00 AM - 04:30 PM

Minimum guarantee: 40 Hours

Location: Bel Air, MD

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Physical Therapist Assistant will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in‑home setting for the older adult population. The in‑home setting could be a patient's private residence or in a patient's room in an independent living facility. Rehabilitation To You allows the Physical Therapy Assistant to evaluate and treat in the most functional environment which is the patient's home. The Physical Therapist Assistant provides physical therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist. This position provides a flexible schedule and work environment in various settings.

RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Attends and contributes to patient care, staffing conferences and other required meetings as a representative of physical therapy, under the direction of the physical therapist.

Responsible for adherence to department and patient treatment schedule, timely clinical and billing documentation requirements as well as work related meetings.

Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient.

Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing tests, evaluations, and complex procedures.

Instructs patients, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.

Maintains appropriate and timely documentation for all patients treated.

Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary.

Puts Patient Service First: Ensures that patients and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights.

Implements patient's individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Physical Therapist.

Provides individualized physical therapy treatments including but not limited to:

  • The therapeutic exercise including aerobic capacity conditioning, balance coordination, agility training, body mechanics and postural stabilization, flexibility exercises, gait and locomotion training, neuromotor development training, relaxation, strength, power, and endurance training
  • Functional training
  • Manual therapy
  • Integumentary repair and protection
  • Use of electrotherapeutic, physical agent and mechanical modalities
  • Health and Wellness
  • Chronic Disease Management Education
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a valid license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license eligibility.

Must have a valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from the patients' residence.

COMPLIANCE:

Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies and procedures including but not limited to those within the Compliance and Ethics Program, Standard/Code of Conduct, Federal False Claims Act and HIPAA.

Participates in required orientation and training programs.

Promptly reports concerns and suspected incidences of non‑compliance to supervisor, Compliance Liaison or to the Compliance Officer via the Integrity Hotline.

Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations.

Participates, as requested, in quality assurance and process improvement activities.
