The Physical Therapist Assistant will provide personal ancillary rehabilitation services, carrying out corrective exercise and treatment programs under the direction of a physical therapist for a diverse patient population. Alternate work schedules and telework are not authorized.* **Holidays:**May be required to work federally recognized holidays (compensated at the regular rate).**Key Responsibilities*** Carry out a program of corrective exercise and treatment for assigned patients as directed by the physical therapist (exercise, gait training, massage, whirlpool, hot packs, diathermy, ultrasound, paraffin, ice packs, traction).* Instruct patients on proper use of wheelchairs, crutches, braces, and prosthetic appliances and devices.* Administer intermittent and static traction to relieve neck and back pain; instruct, motivate, and assist patients to improve functional activities.* Observe patients during treatment, compile and evaluate response data, and report to the physical therapist.* Fit, adjust, and train patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices.* Confer with physical therapy staff and other health team members to plan, modify, and coordinate treatment programs.* Provide direct therapeutic care to diverse diagnoses (orthopedic, podiatric, neuromuscular disorders, burns; ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients); interpret physician orders and perform initial assessments to initiate care.* Operate equipment and design exercise programs per standard physical therapy practice; demonstrate expertise with ultrasound, diathermy, TENS, cervical/lumbar traction, cryotherapy, electrical stimulation, paraffin therapy, iontophoresis, gait instruction, burn care, isokinetic rehabilitation, and progressive resistive exercise programs.## Qualifications**Required Qualifications*** **Degree/Education:**Associate degree. Graduate from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). (Equivalency determination may NOT be requested.)* **Certification:**Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
