Position Overview

The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant assumes clinical responsibility in an assigned facility. This professional role involves direct patient care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, with additional administrative duties as assigned. The assistant must follow all state laws governing physical therapy in-home care, adhere to the treatment plan set by the Physical Therapist, perform only qualified procedures, and recommend changes to the plan of care.

Responsibilities
  • Follow the plan of care, instruct, and assist patients in exercises, gait training, ADL, transfers, safety, and prosthetic training.
  • Observe, record, and report patient responses and condition changes to the supervising PT, nurse, or physician.
  • Educate patients, families, caregivers, and team members on therapy participation.
  • Visit patients as per the Plan of Treatment and complete daily notes.
  • Participate in developing the Plan of Treatment with the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Adhere to Therapy Standards of Practice.
  • Report patient progress, complications, or responses to treatment.
  • Assist the Physical Therapist with procedures and tests for safe and effective evaluation and treatment.
Qualifications
  • Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in Washington State.
  • Ability to follow directions from registered therapists and team members.
  • Ability to work independently with periodic support.
