Responsibilities

• Follow all state laws governing physical therapy in home care, under supervision of a Physical Therapist. Perform only procedures you are qualified for, and recommend changes to the plan of care to the supervising PT.
• Instruct and assist patients in evidence-based treatments within your scope and according to state laws.
• Observe, record, and report patient responses to treatment and any changes in their condition to the supervising PT, nurse, or physician. Coordinate care with the healthcare team as appropriate.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members about therapy within your scope.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Current license, registration, or certification to assist in physical therapy practice in your state.
• CPR certification is required.
• Valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
• For AZ: Must have 2,000 hours of supervised experience post-certification before working in home health.
