Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide PT aide support under the supervision of a licensed PT.
  • Adhere to treatment and scheduling, complete documentation.
  • Collaborate with rehab team to implement patient programs.
  • Instruct patients and caregivers in PT techniques.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies; ensure patient service quality.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Physical Therapist Assistant will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitationservices in an in-home settingfor the older adult population. The in-home settingcould be a patient'sprivate residence or in a patient's room in an independent living facility. Allowsthe Physical Therapy Assistant to evaluate and treat in the most functionalenvironment which isthe patient's home. The Physical Therapist Assistant provides physical therapy treatments to patients tofacilitate increased independence and functioningunder the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.This positionprovides a flexible schedule and work environment in various setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Attends and contributes to patient care, staffing conferences and other required meetings as arepresentative of physical therapy, under the direction of the physical therapist.

Responsible for adherence to department and patient treatment schedule, timely clinical and billing documentation requirements as well as work related meetings.

Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient.

Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing tests,evaluations, and complex procedures.

Instructs patients, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapytreatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.

Maintains appropriate and timely documentationfor all patients treated.

Cleans, maintains, idenfies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary.

Puts Patient Service First: Ensures that patients and families receive the highest quality of servicein a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights.

Implements patient's individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Physical Therapist.

Provides individualized physical therapy treatments including but not limited to

  • Therapeutic exercise including aerobic capacity condition, balance coordination, agilitytraining, body mechanics and postural stabilization, flexibility exercises, gait and locomotiontraining, neuromotor development training, relaxation, strength, power, andendurance training
  • Functional training
  • Manual therapy
  • Airway clearance techniques
  • Integumentary repair and protection
  • Use of electrotherapeutic, physical agent and mechanical modalities
  • Health and Wellness
  • Falls Risk Interventions
  • Chronic Disease Management Education

Performs other related dues as required.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must have a valid license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license eligibility.

2. Must have a valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportationto and from thepatients' residence.
