Lincoln Health is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapy Assistant responsible for administering therapeutic treatments under the supervision of licensed therapists. This position involves working across multiple locations and collaborating with staff to optimize patient recovery and functionality. Candidates must possess an A.A. degree from an accredited program and hold appropriate state certification for this critical role in patient care.
PURPOSE:
The Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for administering and modifying physical therapy treatments as directed by the Staff Physical Therapist.
DIMENSIONS:
The Physical Therapist Assistant works closely with the Physical Therapists and with staff of other clinical departments to collaborate on patient care and reports to the Director of Therapy.
ENVIRONMENT:
Lincoln Community Hospital and Care Center is a Critical Access Hospital co-located with Long Term Care Unit. The facility employs 150-200 employees. Outpatient Therapy Services are available in Hugo, Flagler and Limon clinics. The incumbent will manage responsibilities in all sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Administers treatments and modalities as directed by the staff physical therapist, after the physical therapist has evaluated the patient.
2) The PTA aids with the restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability.
3) Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
1) A.A. degree from a school or college approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.
2) Holds current state certification as Physical Therapy Assistant.
3) Current BCLS (CPR) certification.
4) Knowledge of disease processes and related causative factors.
5) Knowledge of benefits and values of rehabilitative medicine.
6) Knowledge of infection control, sterile technique and related impact on rehabilitative medicine practice and equipment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
1) Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
2) Additional languages preferred.
3) Strong written and verbal skills.
OTHER SKILLS:
1) Basic computer knowledge. Must be able to complete training on current electronic medical records program. Will be expected to complete all billing and documentation processes as required in each setting in a timely manner.
2) Basic clerical skills, good telephone etiquette and organizational skills.
3) Knowledge of anatomy, kinesiology and physiology.
4) Knowledge of the operation of therapeutic modalities and equipment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1) Tolerates heavy, physical work with good stamina for length of shift.
2) Tolerates standing for 5 or more hours a day, sitting for 2 or more hours a day and walking for 5 or more hours a day.
3) Tolerates repetitive tasks and motions.
4) Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds with proper body mechanics.
5) Need to distinguish colors, hear alarms and normal speaking voices.
6) Need to have good manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination and clarity of vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Therapy services are offered in multiple settings: outpatient clinics, hospital, care center and in homes of patients. While environments may vary, each site must allow the employee to deliver all services in a safe manner.
