Job summary

Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD seeks a licensed Physical Therapist to join our acute therapy team. You will plan and deliver PT programs to help patients recover mobility, reduce pain, and build strength across diverse units including pulmonary, surgical/trauma, cardiology, and ICU.

New graduates welcome; requires SD licensure and BLS. May supervise assistants and collaborate with providers, case managers, and external partners. Excellent opportunity in a busy, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required or within first 60 days of employment.
• Appropriate education level as per state licensure.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and deliver physical therapy programs to improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and prevent deformities.

• Document patient information and establish/modify therapeutic plans as needed.
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans and home exercises.

• Compensation: $35.50 – $52.00 per hour, plus a $15,000 sign‑on bonus and enhanced hourly wage.

Department

Acute therapy is a team‑oriented, fast‑paced environment. Opportunity to rotate to various units and work with a wide variety of patient diagnoses, e.g., pulmonary, surgical/trauma, cardiology, renal, orthopaedic, neuro, oncology, general medical, ICU. New graduates welcome.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and deliver physical therapy programs that help clients, patients, and residents recover and improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and prevent deformities.
• Conduct examinations, evaluations, and interventions for clients, patients, and residents affected by injury or disease.
• Utilize tools and techniques to administer physical therapy interventions following safeguards.
• Document client/patient/resident information for evaluation; establish therapeutic plans and modify them as necessary.
• Educate clients, patients, and residents and their family members about treatment plans/schedules and self‑exercises to continue at home.
• Apply current research and appropriate age‑related treatments and evaluations as needed.
• Treat individuals of all ages with varying diagnoses and disorders.
• Maintain documentation in accordance with departmental guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Follow and adhere to accepted clinical practice guidelines of professional organizations.
• Demonstrate flexibility with variable work schedules and assignments.
• Participate in activities to promote the department, Good Samaritan Society, and Sanford Health.
• Interact with individuals outside the department, including providers, case managers, third‑party payers, public organizations, companies/contractual partners, and more.
• May supervise assistants, aides, and students as they provide care, treatment, or other services.
• Provide ongoing education and training to peers in the area(s) of expertise as determined by department leadership.
• Perform other related duties requested by management.
• Focus on post‑acute, long‑term care, and home health care environments as assigned.

Qualifications

• Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.
• Must be licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state(s) of practice.
• When applicable, may require a valid driver’s license.
• Obtain and maintain required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment.
