Job summary

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Physical Therapy has an exciting opportunity for a full time Physical Therapist I to work in Miami, FL. The PT I provides physical therapy and wellness services to patients and clients with impairments, functional disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease or other causes.

The PT I collaborates with healthcare teams including physicians, occupational therapists, and psychologists.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in relevant field is required.
  • Licensure as a Physical Therapist in Florida is required.
  • No experience required.
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
  • Commitment to the University’s core values.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates new patients, establishes goals, and develops treatment plans.
  • Documents all evaluations and treatments daily.
  • Educates patients and families regarding conditions and home activities.
  • Communicates with physicians and staff to obtain information and revise treatment.
  • Uses rehabilitation equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Maintains productivity and adapts schedule as needed for clinic needs.
  • Participates in quality and safety improvement activities.
  • Orients and directs work for assistants and support personnel.
  • Completes documentation meeting standards and HIPAA compliance.
  • Adheres to policies and protects University assets.

The Physical Therapist I provides physical therapy and wellness services to patients and clients who have impairments, functional disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease or other causes. Moreover, this employee helps patients and clients restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities. The Physical Therapist I collaborates with healthcare teams that include physicians, occupational therapists, and psychologists.**CORE JOB FUNCTIONS**1. Evaluates new patients, establishes goals, and develops appropriate treatment plans. 2. Documents all evaluations, treatments, and other pertinent patient interactions daily. 3. Educates patients and families regarding medical conditions and provides instructions for home activities. 4. Communicates with physicians and their staff to obtain necessary information and suggests revisions in treatment. 5. Utilizes treatment tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner. 6. Maintains a satisfactory level of productivity and demonstrates willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis or real clinic need. 7. Participates in quality and safety improvement activities. 8. Orients, instructs, and directs work activities for assistants and support personnel. 9. Utilizes appropriate methods and materials for learning programs, monitors effectiveness, and adapts programs accordingly. 10.
