Job summary

Princeton Orthopaedic Associates, a division of OrthoNJ, is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist to join our orthopedic outpatient team in New Jersey. You will evaluate patients, develop evidence-based treatment plans, and implement interventions aimed at restoring function and reducing pain across the lifespan.

Candidates should have 1–2 years of clinical experience, orthopedic/outpatient experience, and proficiency with EMR systems.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of licensed PT experience; new grads considered.
  • Experience in orthopaedic/outpatient settings preferred.
  • Familiar with post-operative rehab protocols and manual therapy.
  • Strong documentation and EMR familiarity.

Responsibilities

Requirements

The Physical Therapist provides high-quality, patient-centered rehabilitation services for individuals with orthopaedic conditions across the lifespan. Working collaboratively within POA's multidisciplinary team, this role focuses on evaluating patient needs, developing evidence-based treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions to restore function, reduce pain, and optimize mobility for patients recovering from injury, surgery, or chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients with orthopaedic conditions, including range of motion, strength, functional mobility, and pain assessments.
  • Develop individualized, goal-oriented treatment plans based on evaluation findings, physician referrals, and patient goals.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions including manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercises, neuromuscular re-education, and modalities.
  • Provide patient and family education on home exercise programs, body mechanics, injury prevention, and self-management strategies.
  • Document patient evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and timely in EMR system.
  • Modify treatment plans based on patient progress, response to interventions, and changing clinical needs.
  • Communicate regularly with referring physicians regarding patient status, progress, and any concerns or complications.
  • Collaborate with physical therapist aides and support staff to ensure efficient patient flow and optimal treatment delivery.
  • Maintain treatment areas and equipment in clean, safe, and functional condition.
  • Participate in department meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education activities.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, insurance authorization requirements, and professional practice standards.
  • Build positive therapeutic relationships with patients to promote engagement and adherence to treatment.
Experience/ Qualifications
  • Minimum 1-2 years of clinical experience as a licensed Physical Therapist (new graduates with strong clinical rotations will be considered).
  • Experience in orthopaedic and outpatient settings strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of post-operative rehabilitation protocols for common orthopaedic surgeries.
  • Familiarity with manual therapy techniques and therapeutic exercise prescription.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and adapt treatments to various patient needs.
  • Strong clinical documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with EMR systems preferred.
Education/Certification
  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) degree from an accredited program.
  • Current Physical Therapist license in the State of New Jersey.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required.
  • Specialty certifications (OCS, sports rehabilitation, manual therapy) are a plus but not required.
