Job summary

Chippenham Hospital is seeking a Physical Therapist to help patients regain mobility and strength after illness, injury, or surgery. You will work with physicians and the care team to create personalized therapy plans aimed at meaningful goals and positive outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Physical Therapy approved by the LPTA.
  • Advanced training in a specialty area related to specific patient populations is preferred.
  • Required: Virginia license to practice physical therapy.
  • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients using established protocols and precautions according to physician referral.
  • Treats patients according to plan using conventional treatment methods.
  • Completes and files all patient documentation by end of work day.
  • Initiates and documents patient teaching including family and/or significant others.
  • Communicates effectively with health care professionals and customers.
  • Participates in ongoing learning and provides in-service sessions.
  • Maintains department operations and program development.
  • Orders DME and adaptive equipment as needed for discharge.
  • Evaluating patient abilities and developing personalized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and the care team.
  • Delivering evidence-based interventions that restore movement and reduce pain.
  • Monitoring progress, refining therapy plans, and documenting outcomes.
  • Educating patients and families on exercise programs and safe practices.
  • Collaborating across disciplines for cohesive patient-centered care.
  • Mentoring therapy assistants or students while upholding values.

Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Physical Therapist, you play a vital role in helping patients regain strength, restore mobility, and rebuild confidence following illness, injury, or surgery. Working closely with physicians and the care team, you’ll assess each patient’s needs and create personalized therapy plans designed around meaningful goals, active engagement, and exceptional patient outcomes. SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Evaluates patients using established protocols and precautions according to physician referral.
  • Treats patients according to plan using conventional treatment methods.
  • Appropriately completes and files all patient documentation by end of work day.
  • Initiates and documents patient teaching including family and/or significant others. Using appropriate Patient Education documentation modality.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with all health care professionals and customers.
  • Demonstrates an active involvement in continued learning and provides an in-service to staff for each course attended as discussed with manager.
  • Participates in activities which promote department operations and program development.
  • Maintains department equipment and necessary supplies.
  • Orders DME and adaptive equipment appropriately to meet the needs of patients upon discharge.

  • Educating patients and families on exercise programs, adaptive techniques, and safe practices that promote independence
  • Collaborating across disciplines to ensure cohesive, patient-centered care and smooth transitions throughout recovery
  • Leading by example-mentoring therapy assistants or students while upholding HCA Healthcare's values of excellence, compassion, and integrity
What qualifications you will need
EDUCATION

Graduate from an accredited school of Physical Therapy approved by the LPTA. Advanced training in a specialty area related to specific patient populations is preferred.

LICENSURE

Required: Virginia license to practice physical therapy

Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care
