Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship Required.
• APTA CAPTE-accredited physical therapy program (or CAPTE-approved) from an accredited college/university.
• CAPTE-accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education – Active State License (any U.S. state).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Minimum of Two Years of Experience within the last three years as a physical therapist.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients for physical deficits and functional limitations.
• Develop individualized treatment plans to enhance mobility, strength, and overall well-being.
• Utilize data-driven techniques to create effective therapy programs.
• Apply therapy techniques tailored to each Veteran’s unique condition.
• Recommend and evaluate adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs, canes, and braces.
• Provide specialized physical therapy treatments including therapeutic exercises, neuromuscular re‑education, gait analysis and training, functional activity training, pain prevention and management, adaptive equipment assessment and prescription, electric modalities, wound and lymphedema care, pelvic health therapy, aquatic therapy, and wheelchair seating and positioning.

Education

Position Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship Required
• Entry-level physical therapists must be graduates of a physical therapy program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education or from a college or university approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
• CAPTE-accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education-Active State License (any U.S. state)

• Minimum of Two Years of Experience within the last three years as a physical therapist
