Position Summary:

The Physical Therapist organizes and conducts physical therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation, directing client participation to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. The role involves facilitating skills essential for independence and productivity, aiming to diminish or correct pathology and promote health.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  1. Evaluate residents, develop treatment goals and methods, implement therapy plans, and document services, including techniques in gait, ambulation, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, posture, sensory awareness, sitting and standing skills, balance, and orientation.
  2. Design and fit adaptive devices, train residents in their use, including orthotics and prosthetics.
  3. Select appropriate physical agent modalities based on individual needs and diagnosis.
  4. Consult with the rehabilitation team to select suitable therapeutic regimens.
  5. Instruct residents in mobility skills, evaluate progress, and adapt programs accordingly.
  6. Promote a safe environment, enforcing safety standards.
  7. Participate in resident care and staff meetings.
  8. Supervise supportive personnel per standards.
  9. Conduct and participate in training programs for medical, nursing, and other personnel.
  10. Order supplies and equipment as needed.
  11. Maintain and report on equipment condition.
  12. Ensure high-quality, compassionate care respecting individuals’ needs and rights.
Educational/Vocational Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program, certified by the American Physical Therapy Association, and licensed or eligible for licensure in NJ.

Job Skills:
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Licensure as required in NJ
Other Duties:
  • Interact with residents, families, visitors, and staff
  • Perform other tasks as needed, including hands-on interventions
