Job summary

IHA is seeking a full-time Physical Therapist in Mason City, IA to evaluate and treat patients of all ages and develop individualized rehabilitation plans. You will supervise support personnel and coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team.

You will document progress, educate patients on exercises and safe body mechanics, and ensure delivery of high-quality, compassionate care in a patient-centered setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Physical Therapy Program.
• Must possess/maintain license in the State of Iowa.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire.
• Provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates plans, directs, supervises and conducts habilitative and rehabilitative programs for patients with physical limitations.
• Consults and communicates with patient, family, and other multi-disciplinary team members and service providers.
• Records and reports patient’s progress towards established goals, and data related to care in the patient’s medical record/chart; instructs exercises and activities of daily living and home exercise programs.
• Delegates and supervises activities of physical therapy assistants and technicians to ensure efficient use of department resources.
• Provides competent patient care by interpreting data and applying appropriate treatments according to age-related development.

What You Will Do

• Evaluates plans, directs, supervises and conducts habilitative and rehabilitative programs for patients with physical limitations.
• Consults and communicates with patient, family, and other multi-disciplinary team members and service providers.
• Records and reports patient’s progress towards established goals, and data related to care in the patient’s medical record/chart. Instructs patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living, safe body mechanics, home exercise programs, and return to work precautions.
• Delegates and supervises activities of physical therapy assistants and technicians, to assure efficient use of department resources.
• Provides competent patient care to the above indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data, making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development, and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of Physical Therapy Program.
• Must possess/maintain license in the State of Iowa.
• Ability to have good relationships with people while dealing with a variety of physical disabilities. Must be able to read, write and/or speak English.
• Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Provider-American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer-American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status.
• Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines.
