Qualifications

  • Must hold a Doctor of Physical Therapy or MSc/MDT in physical therapy from an accredited program.
  • Completion of the National Certification Examination is required for licensure.
  • Current valid PT license to practice in Florida is mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Review patients’ medical histories and assess needs.
  • Diagnose conditions by observing movement and listening to concerns.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans to improve mobility and reduce pain.
  • Set clear goals for outcomes and prognosis with patients and families.
  • Utilize exercises, manual therapy, and equipment to manage pain and increase function.
  • Document progress and adjust plans as needed for safety and effectiveness.
  • Educate patients and families about treatment options and home care.
  • Coordinate with other care providers to support rehabilitation goals.

Job description

OVERVIEW:

Physical therapists examine each person and then develops a treatment plan to improve their ability to move, reduce or manage pain, restore function, and prevent disability.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Reviewing patients’ medical histories
  • Diagnosing patients by observing their movements and listening to their concerns
  • Developing individualized treatment plans for patients
  • Outlining clear goals for patients and the expected outcomes of the plan
  • Using exercises, stretching, equipment, and hands-on therapy to manage patients’ pain, increase mobility, and prevent further pain and injury
  • Recording patients’ progress and modifying the plan of care if needed
  • Educating patients and family members about the recovery process
  • Consulting with patients to learn about their physical condition and symptoms
  • Assisting patients with the use of equipment such as wheelchairs or walkers
  • Advising the patient and family about in-home treatment options and exercises
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • Master of Science or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
  • Successful completion of National Certification Examination
  • Valid PT license in state of practice
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • This job operates in a health care setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the care center.
  • Incumbent may be exposed to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens in working environment.
  • Incumbent may be required to work extended periods of time at a video display terminal.
  • Incumbent may experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric, and deceased patients.
