Job summary

Shriners Children’s Chicago has an opportunity for a full-time Physical Therapist. You will provide evaluations and therapy services for orthopedic, SCI, plastic surgery and rehabilitation patients.

You’ll help our patients progress from admission to discharge and support growth in a multidisciplinary pediatric environment. The successful candidate will hold an Illinois PT license, have at least one year of rehab/therapy experience, and be prepared to grow in a compassionate, evidence-based

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy (required).
• Illinois PT license (required).
• At least 1 year of rehab/therapy experience (required).
• Master’s or Doctorate in Physical Therapy (preferred).
• Pediatric experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs accurate and timely initial and discharge evaluations and assessments based on age and development.
• Uses standardized assessments and communicates results to family and team members.
• Provides direct Physical Therapy services including strength, balance, flexibility and gait training.
• Initiates discharge planning and equipment needs with the care team.
• Documents evaluations and equipment recommendations accurately and promptly.
• Makes minor modifications in adaptive equipment and assists in fabrication of temporary orthotics.

Job Description

Shriners Children’s Chicago has an opportunity for a full-time Physical Therapist . The Physical Therapist is responsible for providing physical therapy services of consultation, evaluation, and direct treatment in care of orthopedic, spinal cord injury (SCI), plastic surgery and rehabilitation patients. In this position, you will have the unique opportunity to help our patient through their journey from the moment the child is brought through the door through the time the child leaves to go home. You’ll get to help our kids grow into the new person that they want to be. You will provide evaluations and therapy services, education and training to meet the needs of our patients. The successful candidate will get the opportunity to learn and grow in their practice by being exposed to multiple settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs accurate and timely initial and discharge evaluations and assessments of progress based on interview, observation and specific test results which take into account the age and development level of the child.
• Performs standardized assessments in an accurate manner for appropriate patients and gives summary of results to family and team members on an ongoing basis.
• Uses advanced Physical Therapy skills to implement a comprehensive and individualized treatment program for a diverse patient population incorporating principles of growth and development into all aspects of care.
• Provides direct Physical Therapy Services including strength, balance, flexibility, endurance, gait, transfer and mobility training and developmentally appropriate activities.
• Conducts clinic screening and discusses findings with the patient, family, and physician, as appropriate.
• Initiates discharge equipment needs for inpatients in conjunction with the Care Coordination Department.
• Provides evaluations of and recommendations for equipment on an ongoing basis. Provides timely and accurate documentation in support of acquisition of equipment.
• Makes minor modifications in adaptive equipment and assists in the fabrication of temporary orthotics.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy
• Illinois PT license
• One year rehab/therapy experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s or Doctorate in Physical Therapy
• Pediatric experience preferred

The pay range for this position is $84,676.80 - $127,004.80.

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
