Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in the Boston area seeks a Physical Therapist to lead the patient care process from initial assessment to discharge planning. You will develop a diagnosis and prognosis, craft a measurable treatment plan, and reassess progress in collaboration with the care team as conditions evolve.

The role includes supervising Physical Therapy Aides and Interns, participating in rounds, documenting in the medical record, and contributing to staff education.

Qualifications

  • MA licensure.
  • American Heart Association BLS or Heart Saver certification required.
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or DPT preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates the patient care process of assessment of the patient’s functional status and needs.
  • Formulation of patient diagnosis and prognosis based on evaluative findings and interpretation of these findings.
  • Development of an appropriate and specific treatment plan of care, complete with measurable, realistic, and timely goals.
  • Reassessment of progress as needed based on established timeframes, patient response to treatment, or change in status.
  • Formulation of discharge plan and ability to work with patient, patient family members, and other healthcare team members to successfully carry out discharge plan.
  • Documentation of patient evaluation, progress notes, re-evaluations, and discharge in a thorough and timely manner in the patient medical record.
  • Actively participates in walk rounds, verbal rounds and patient care team conferences when appropriate.
  • Prepares daily patient charge records of treatments and supplies.
  • Participates in the Clinical Education Program through the supervision and instruction of affiliating Physical Therapy students and interns.
  • Supervises/Directs Physical Therapy Aides and Physical Therapy Assistants in performance of assigned tasks, when indicated.
  • Participates in staff meetings, departmental groups aimed at improving clinical practice, and in-service education programs both inside and outside of the institution.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills necessary for success in a multi-disciplinary, acute care hospital setting.
  • Completes annual safety testing and departmental competencies.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Education

Pay Range

Pay Range: $39.50 - $55.31 The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
