Job summary

Lifepoint Rehabilitation at UK King's Daughter Medical Center in Ashland, KY seeks a Physical Therapist to join our acute rehabilitation team in a full-time role. You will oversee patient care, collaborate with therapists and physicians, and contribute to high-quality, patient-centered outcomes.

You must hold a current Physical Therapist license in Kentucky, preferably with inpatient rehab experience, and maintain BLS/CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Education: Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state where the hospital is located.
• Experience: Inpatient rehab experience preferred.
• Additional Requirements: Current BLS/CPR card.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of patients treated by Physical Therapist Assistants and Therapy techs; may orient staff and students.
• Assess patients’ needs; initiate physical therapy interventions and collaborate with the care team.
• Observe and evaluate treatment progress; update physician on required changes.
• Perform assessments and reassessments; ensure timely QI scoring for adult and geriatric rehab.
• Assess pain and implement interventions to optimize function; coordinate physician contact when needed.
• Formulate and update patient-specific plans of care for physical therapy.
• Report progress and discharge barriers at team conferences; ensure patient safety and reduce errors.
• Other duties as assigned.

How you'll contribute

A Physical Therapist who excels in this role:

• Assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of those patients being treated by Physical Therapist Assistants and Therapy techs. May be assigned to orient staff and students and assume the duties and responsibilities of the supervisor in the absence of that individual.
• Assesses patients’ needs; identifies and initiates appropriate physical therapy interventions; works cooperatively with other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional physical therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Observes and evaluates treatment affect, accomplishment of short and long term goals. Recommends change to physician, if needed.
• Performs an appropriate assessment on each patient and performs reassessments, as per policy. Performs accurate and timely QI scoring. The population is adult and geriatric patients requiring an adult medical rehabilitation program and services.
• Able to assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function of participation in rehabilitation; makes appropriate interventions to reduce pain; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
• Formulates and updates patient specific plan of care for physical therapy
• Reports patient progress and barriers to discharge in each patient team conference
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
