Job summary

Onward Education is seeking a School-Based Physical Therapist to join a district in Maricopa County, AZ for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a part-time role (20 hours per week) onsite, collaborating with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support students with mobility needs.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy with an active Arizona license and preferably school-based or pediatric experience.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy.
• Current Arizona Physical Therapist license.
• School-based or pediatric experience preferred.
• Knowledge of IEP processes, special education regulations, and school-based service delivery.
• Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to travel between school locations within the district, as needed.
• Passion for supporting students' physical development, independence, and access to education.

Responsibilities

• Conduct evaluations to assess motor skills, mobility, and physical access needs in the school setting.
• Develop and implement therapy plans aligned with IEP goals and educational needs.
• Provide direct physical therapy services to improve strength, balance, coordination, endurance, and mobility.
• Teach students safe mobility techniques and support the use of adaptive equipment and assistive devices.
• Recommend environmental modifications and accommodations to support student access and participation.
• Collaborate with educators, related service providers, and families to support student progress throughout the school day.
• Train staff on safe handling, positioning, transfers, and mobility support strategies.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements.
• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.
