Job summary

Onward Search Education is partnering with a Jay County school district in Indiana to hire a dedicated Physical Therapist for the 2026-2027 school year. This is an on-site, part-time position supporting students from preschool through 12th grade.

You will evaluate needs, provide direct therapy, and collaborate with school teams to promote functional mobility and participation in daily activities. Schedule features 24 hours per week with variable start and end times.

Qualifications

• Active Indiana Physical Therapist license or ability to obtain/maintain licensure in IN.
• School-based and/or pediatric experience preferred.
• Knowledge of school-based service delivery and collaboration within IEP teams preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to partner with school teams and families.
• Ability to work on-site and maintain timely documentation/progress reporting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct evaluations of gross motor skills, strength, balance, coordination, posture and mobility in the school setting.
• Identify barriers preventing access to education and participation in routines.
• Develop and support service plans with measurable outcomes (IEP/504 as applicable).
• Provide direct therapy to improve function and mobility.
• Teach safe mobility techniques and use of assistive devices and transfers.
• Recommend environmental modifications and adaptive equipment as appropriate.
• Collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support progress.
• Provide staff training on positioning, handling, and mobility support strategies.
• Maintain timely documentation, progress notes, and compliance records.

We're partnering with a school district in Jay County, Indiana to hire a dedicated Physical Therapist (PT) for the 2026-2027 school year.

This is an on-site, part-time PT opportunity supporting students preschool through 12th grade. You'll collaborate closely with school teams to evaluate needs, provide direct services, and support student progress through functional, education-focused therapy.

Schedule: Part-time; 24 guaranteed hours/week (daily start/end times vary)

Caseload: Approximately 20 students

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical and functional evaluations to assess students' gross motor skills, strength, balance, coordination, posture, and mobility needs in the school setting
• Identify barriers impacting a student's ability to safely access the educational environment and participate in school routines
• Develop and support service plans aligned to student goals (IEP/504 as applicable), with measurable outcomes
• Provide direct therapy services to improve functional mobility, motor skills, and safe participation in school activities
• Teach safe mobility techniques (including use of assistive devices, transfers, and navigating stairs/hallways as needed)
• Recommend environmental modifications and adaptive equipment (as appropriate) to support access and independence
• Collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support student progress and functional success at school
• Provide consultation and training to staff on positioning, handling, and mobility support strategies
• Maintain timely documentation, progress notes, and compliance records
