Conducts medically prescribed physical therapy under the supervision of a physical therapist.

  • Provides physical therapy interventions under a plan of care written by a physical therapist.
  • Performs therapy interventions utilizing techniques and skills as appropriate for the patient population.
  • Documents treatment interventions given.
  • May coordinate activities of physical therapy aides, students and other support personnel.
Organizational Responsibilities
  • Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
  • Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
  • Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
  • Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
  • Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
  • Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
  • Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
  • Complies with established organization and department policies.
  • Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.
  • Serves as a Clinical Instructor for Therapy Students as requested by Departmental Leadership.

Licensing and Education Requirements
  • LIC BLS Provider Required: Yes, Preferred: No.
  • Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) credentialed from the Michigan Board of Physical Therapy prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • LIC Rehab Therapist Required: Yes, Preferred: No.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience.
  • Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job‑specific experience required.
  • Diploma Required: No, Preferred: No.
