Job Profile

As a Physical Security Lead within PNC's Physical Security organization, you will be based in Charleston SC.

The Physical Security Lead is responsible for leading key physical security programs supporting the organization’s international operations and Southeast regional footprint. Based in Charleston, South Carolina, this role will have primary responsibility for the International Traveler Safety Program, physical security oversight of international facilities and offshore delivery centers, and regional physical security support across South Carolina.

The Physical Security Lead will also support other markets throughout the Southeast region as operational needs, incidents, projects, or emerging risks require.

This position serves as a trusted security advisor to business leaders and employees, combining international security expertise, physical security risk management, intelligence monitoring, incident response, and regional security operations.

Key Responsibilities

International Traveler Safety

• Lead the enterprise International Traveler Safety Program and provide security support to employees traveling outside the United States.
• Conduct pre-travel risk assessments and provide country- and location-specific security guidance.
• Monitor travel to elevated- and high-risk destinations and develop appropriate risk mitigation measures.
• Coordinate secure transportation, lodging, protective services, and other security resources when warranted.
• Maintain traveler tracking and emergency communication capabilities.
• Support executive and high-profile international travel planning.
• Provide real-time support to international travelers during security incidents, emergencies, and major disruptions.

International Facilities & Offshore Delivery Centers

• Provide physical security oversight for international facilities, including offshore delivery centers.
• Conduct and coordinate physical security risk assessments and annual security reviews of international locations.
• Partner with local business leaders, Information Security, Corporate Real Estate, and other stakeholders to evaluate security risks and controls.
• Develop recommendations to address identified vulnerabilities and track remediation efforts through completion.
• Maintain consistent physical security standards and assessment practices across international locations.
• Support security planning for new international locations, expansions, relocations, and other business initiatives.

South Carolina & Southeast Regional Security

• Serve as the primary physical security lead for facilities and business operations throughout South Carolina.
• Conduct physical security risk assessments and provide recommendations to reduce risk to employees, facilities, and assets.
• Respond to and support security incidents, threats, workplace violence concerns, criminal activity, and other physical security matters.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local law enforcement and other public safety partners.
• Support security awareness initiatives and provide security guidance to employees and business leaders.
• Partner with security vendors and internal stakeholders to address guard, security technology, and facility protection requirements.
• Provide additional operational support to markets throughout the Southeast region as business needs, incidents, or staffing requirements dictate.

Global Intelligence & Risk Monitoring

• Monitor geopolitical, criminal, terrorism, civil unrest, natural disaster, and other threats that could affect employees, travelers, facilities, or business operations.
• Maintain relationships with intelligence providers and external security partners.
• Develop timely security advisories, intelligence assessments, and executive-level briefings.
• Provide recurring reporting on emerging international risks and significant security developments.
• Translate intelligence into actionable recommendations for travelers, business leaders, and security stakeholders.

Government & External Partnerships

• Develop and maintain relationships with U.S. Department of State Regional Security Officers, embassies, consulates, and other appropriate government partners.
• Build relationships with local law enforcement and security partners in domestic and international locations.
• Coordinate with external security providers and intelligence resources to support international operations and travel.
• Represent Physical Security in appropriate government, industry, and public-private security partnerships.

Crisis Management & Incident Response

• Support international and domestic incident response and employee accountability efforts.
• Coordinate security response during political unrest, natural disasters, terrorism incidents, civil disturbances, criminal events, and other major disruptions.
• Develop security contingency and response plans for elevated-risk locations.
• Participate in crisis management planning, exercises, and after-action reviews.
• Provide timely situational awareness and recommendations to Physical Security leadership and business stakeholders during significant events.

Program Management & Partnership

• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, standards, and playbooks supporting international and regional physical security.
• Manage relationships with security vendors and service providers.
• Establish program metrics and provide regular reporting to Physical Security leadership.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen security controls, improve operational effectiveness, and enhance the employee and traveler experience.
• Partner across Physical Security and other enterprise functions to ensure consistent risk management and incident response.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in corporate physical security, law enforcement, military, intelligence, diplomatic security, federal investigations, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience with physical security risk assessments, incident response, investigations, or facility protection.
• Experience supporting international operations, international travel security, geopolitical risk, or crisis management.
• Strong understanding of physical security principles and risk-based security practices.
• Experience working with law enforcement, government agencies, intelligence providers, and/or private-sector security partners.
• Ability to assess complex security issues and develop practical, risk-based recommendations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief senior leaders.
• Ability to work independently while effectively partnering across a geographically dispersed security organization.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Job Description

• Acts as the subject matter expert of the overall corporate physical security strategy and all physical security programs, policies and procedures within their region. Technologically savvy, analyzes current conditions to identify new areas of risk and performs local or regional assessments of protection risks/exposure.
• Offers subject matter expertise surrounding the physical security strategy. Oversees and/or performs site inspections. Ensures adherence to the overall physical security strategy and standards. Develops scalable strategies and procedures to combat areas or risk/exposure including the maintenance and monitoring of access control systems and video surveillance systems. Applies knowledge of all applicable federal, state and local laws relating to security administration.
• Maintains established relationships with various areas of law enforcement in service of securing PNC employees, locations and assets, both in response to and in anticipation of threats. Investigates security issues/concerns with local police, employees and any 3rd party. Provides executive protection in limited instances.
• Manages assigned relationships which may include overseeing contract terms and ensuring that all service level agreements are met.
• Provides direction and guidance to contracted and full- time physical security staff. Consults with branch staff, retail operations managers and major building staff. Develops & facilitates the physical security training. Identifies new and innovative approaches to training of security systems and procedures.
• Proactively partners and networks with law enforcement in service of securing PNC employees, locations and assets, both in response to and in anticipation of threats. Manages & directs physical security initiatives and enterprise wide projects, research and assignments related to physical security.
