Job summary

Delta College seeks a part-time Laboratory Assistant to support Physics, Astronomy and Geology labs. You will help instructors maintain a safe, clean environment and assist with evening astronomical observing (training provided).

Position limited to 5 hours per week; must be dependable with basic algebra and enrolled in at least six credit hours (twelve for international students). Background check required; Work-Study preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Must be dependable, motivated, self-starter.
• Ability to do basic algebra on occasion.
• Preference given to those who have taken an Astronomy course.
• Must be registered in a minimum of six credit hours (12 hours for international students).
• Work Study preferred, but not required.

• Assisting instructors to maintain a safe and clean environment in the laboratory and classroom areas. This includes evening astronomical observing with telescopes (training provided).
• General housekeeping duties; cleaning, organizing, stocking lab supplies and equipment for Physics, Astronomy, and Geology classes.
• Job safety training will be provided.
• Secondary duties will be to assist the Laboratory Associate with mail collection and distribution and copy machine paper refilling.

This positions is a maximum of 5 hours per week.
